Gallery Shot Analysis (05 February 22)

This shot alone does wonders in encapsulating Nabi & Jaeeon’s story through the details put together.


The shot stands from Nabi’s sculpture, specifically overlooking from behind its wings. Overshadowed by a hue of blue, we focus on Nabi & Jaeeon linked together, who are both wearing white, surrounded by artworks.


It tells a cinematic tale of two characters who’ve joined hearts. The colour blue, a combination of. White, symbolising new beginnings. 


All wrapped up with the shot’s pov; the wings. The sculpture they both worked on. “Yeoji”, space for possibilities, hope.

Nabi’s Sculptures and Growth (20 January 22)

I found myself going back to Ep 2 and 3 -- episodes so pregnant with subtext, I'm itching to write about them. This scene in particular spoke about the gap between JE and Nabi at this time, the sculpture representing Nabi's internal struggle that comes between them.  Between them was the sculpture of a woman, bare and vulnerable, rough and seemingly unfinished. Its body facing towards Nabi's direction, like a symbol that Nabi needed to face her biggest nemesis -- her own self -- before she can finally close the gap between them. Nevertheless, towards the end, Nabi was able to conquer herself and bridge the gap between her and JE, the sculpture no longer between them but behind them, its wings spread wide open as if about to fly.  The room no longer blanketed with the shadows of doubt and hesitancy but rather illuminated by certainty. Because at last, they were able to realize that what keeps on leading them back to each other has always been what they have kept denying them...

Character Growth, Beautiful Ending (23 August 21)

This is my favourite part of the eps actually. The sequence is so beautifully matched to their growth story. Both have their own traumas, and once again, I'm in awe with how the writer and the director gave closure for this even in the smallest details. NB reaching out for his hand first, and then honestly expressing her request for him, "So don't go anywhere and stay by my side", is actually what JE needs all this time. This means the world to him.  JE has this fear of abandonment (maybe bcs of his parents), & this is also why he used to think that it's no use to be in a relationship, bcs putting a name on it doesn't literally guarantee anything but pain. That's why NB's first move is very impactful for him. He's incredibly touched. For him, it means that finally, for someone, his presence is needed. Much much needed. He won't be abandoned. He can finally let go of his trauma. Realising what NB's just done, his eyes getting teary immed...
