Both the Webtoon and Drama Endings are Good (22 August 21)

Image
Nabi-Dohyeok ending was satisfying in a way that that was the best choice webtoon Nabi made for herself, while Jaebi ending was the ultimate thing I wanted for her — them healing together & Jaeeon learning to love her back sincerely.  The latter is less likely to come true in real life,, but it’s realistic too. As much as people don’t change, people CAN change. In this case, drama JE, who was always sick of himself made the steps to love himself & Nabi, & I’m so proud of him for that.  While webtoon JE never had that trajectory; it was heartbreaking seeing him choose to stay miserable. He did take a step to change, but his dynamic with NB became too toxic that he bounced back to his old ways. Webtoon JE wanted to be with her to screw her, drama JE wanted to get out of her sight so she can be happy. Webtoon JE never learnt how to love because he was never really in love with Nabi nor anyone else. He didn’t try harder to get better. Drama JE gave us the character gro...

Is Jaeeon a Product of his Environment? (28 September 22)

Jae eon - a product of his environment? ( A thread ) Many people believe we’re influenced by whomever, or whatever we surround ourselves with. Arguably, this ideology is the foundation of Jae eon’s character. He acts as someone who can teach the audience that they are able to break free from this mindset, and flourish. We know little about his family affairs, yet it is quite evident how he grew up, just from the small details dropped throughout the drama. There’s an undeniable distance between him and his family, (most notably his mother) which appears to shape quite a lot of his nature.  He doesn’t have a strong grip on the basics of intimacy, care, and what it means to be loyal to someone. For Jae eon, intimacy is studying, eating, and simply spending time with a partner - things he does often with Nabi.  For Nabi, intimacy is total focus on a partner - both emotionally, and sexually, causing the collision between the pair. Their viewpoints don’t align ; Nabi sees thi...

Why I Don’t Hate Jaeeon (20 August 21)

Why I don't hate Park Jaeeon 🦋 Misunderstood. The scene with his mom revealed the reason for hi𝘴 fear of rejection and abandonment, twisted views on commitment and love. It explained why he preferred casual relationships, drawing the lines when confronted by uncomfortable truths. Generosity and love. For someone who doesn’t express himself well with words (unless he was flirting), acts of generosity (things and time) was a special language. He showed NB this countless times (and those around him). "Because I'm sick of myself". NB saw JE’s vulnerability through some “unfortunate events” that led her to end things with him. When he had nobody to rely on, he kept NB close but not close enough to hurt her. He needed her. Purple. JE wore it a lot in the drama and webtoon. It's a clever way to explain his character - generous, creative, mysterious and independent. I have had faith since the beginning. Another love confession. After all NB’s constant rejection, he trie...

You Were Meant to Hate Jaeeon (24 August 21)

YOU WERE MEANT TO HATE PARK JAE EON: A thread  Recalling back to his first appearance, the very first thing that was focused was what represents his exterior demeanour the best: his butterfly tattoo. As mentioned in my previous thread of symbolisms, his tattoo represents the Jaeeon that everyone, including the viewers, see. From the very beginning, we all know very little of this character in particular. Unlike Nabi, we were never given the context of jae eon’s background. Hence, it seemed “easier” for everyone to quickly reprimand him for his actions because no one knew how he became like that. The lack of information made everyone, including the characters, jump into conclusions really easily. feeding more into these misconceptions, Jae eon doesn’t make an effort to clear it up; instead he smiles (as a way to cover up his emotions). His smile is what makes viewers hate him even more. it shows that he doesn’t care, that he never takes things seriously, brushing things off with a s...
