Webtoon and Drama Differences (05 July 21)

I love this drama. I love how it deals with all the characters and how it works with the webtoon but gives more dimension to it. The webtoon characters are very 2D (figuratively and literally). They have little to no character development and start going in cycles by chapter 24. I enjoyed the quick read but if not for the drama, I wouldn't have fallen in love with the characters. And the webtoon is having only 1 lead, that is Nabi. It is Nabi's story. And there are 4 guys she deals with in this duration. her ex, Jaeeon, the junior and Potato guy. Jaeeon is the one who affected Nabi for the longest time. Nabi barely has any character dev, except learning to accept companionship (Potato guy) instead of lust (Jaeeon). The drama shows Jaeeon as a much more humane person so idk how she is gonna get out of this deep dark hole. (doramaticbites: I only read chapter summaries so I assumed the brevity was because I wasn't reading the whole chapters. Thanks for explaining. The drama i...

Sincerity and Need for Communication (23 August 21)

That Park JaeEon was insincere was a lie that the world told Nabi and a lie that she chose to believe because of her fears and false beliefs.  Let's go back to this scene in Ep 3, where he has been trying to be sincere towards Nabi, but she kept on dismissing him. JE even voiced out his jealousy when Nabi went out with another man, in a way that also shows that he is grappling with the thought of feeling jealousy -- tentative, unsure, but acknowledged. "I don't know. Maybe I got jealous" "I'm not such a bad guy, am I?" When he felt that Nabi was doubting him, JE was trying to confirm this with her by implying that he is not exactly what other people paint him to be, and that he wishes she would actually see it. He even went as far as telling her that he liked her since the beginning, something which we will eventually find out to be the moment he saw her in the gallery.  But Nabi was quick to dismiss his confession because she was trying to protect her...

Is Seol-A Jaeeon’s “Fate” (10 August 21)

Interesting question! I forgot about him even saying this until you brought it up, but we can reasonably assume that his response is ironic. The convo between them grows more intense, as indicated by the BG music that it’s set to (evoking an anxious/ somber tone). But immediately after he says this the music changes to a brighter, friendlier song as SA smiles. They both know how ridiculous and ironic this notion is, hence the easing of tension. I think it’s fair to say from what we’ve seen so far that Seol-Ah is probably the person that knows JE best in the world. She’s the one that knows of his true intentions and feelings and he doesn’t seem to have anything to hide from her. It’s vastly different from the side that he shows everybody else prior to his relationship with NB.  We know that they’re old friends and we later learn that JE seems to have no romantic feelings for her. The other characters tell us that JE only used to hang out with girls, and those were those he h...
