Posts like these piss me the hell off. It implies that Na Bi, me, and women in general are there to cater to men. That is not the point Nevertheless is making. It’s the opposite — it isn’t about what the men want or deserve, it’s about Na Bi and what she wants and deserves. She deserves, first and foremost, to be happy. I’ve been racking my brain why Nevertheless has sparked this much outrage, story-wise and character-wise, from viewers. I’ve finally figured it out, I think. I think it’s because people take these kinds of dramas as some sort of personal attack just because the characters are relatable. They are still, first and foremost, fictional so any exaggeration is meant to cause drama and friction in the story. Although I admit kdramas get me right in my feels, I am a viewer and listener of a story first and a human being who can sympathize second. What does this mean? It means I mostly view stories objectively before I try to imagine myself in a character’s situation. Try to imagine it this way: you’re a spectator in other people’s lives. Fictional people but with real world problems. It is easy to lose yourself in the story and say, “Oh, I wouldn’t do that. That’s so dumb. Why can’t you do better? I would never.” That’s where all the hate and vitriol for this drama and its characters come from...

The vibrance and excitement of meeting someone new, someone who makes your heart skip a beat and then going through the metamorphosis that would change you and your relationship into the soft, calm colours of love, trust, and companionship. We saw them as flawed, chipped individuals. I say chipped and not broken because who they were at the beginning weren’t any less than who they became at the end. First up is during Episode 2 when a senior of theirs trash talks Na Bi behind her back. It's such a fascinating response. Prior to this scene, he's still adamant about saying that nothing is going on with him and NB. Now, some would argue that a true gentleman would never talk badly about a woman and that's simply what JE was doing here. Sure, let's go with that. But more than that... This is the first time we actually get to see him show an emotion apart from the smiles he's shown her since they met. To NB, nothing shakes him and she points this out several times. Do you ever just pause to think that Park Jae Eon was about to walk out of Yoo Na Bi’s life but when he heard about the ruined sculpture, he didn’t hesitate to come back and help. Despite his own hurt, he loved her through the pain.  I’m rewatching the Finale now and, God, this scene. He was about to go, never to appear in front of her again, just as she demanded from him during their fight in the pouring rain. He was ready to let go. But one phone call from Yun Sol and he comes back. He’s not even sure she would want his help. All he knows is she’s probably hurting and in a lot of distress. He couldn’t leave knowing he could possibly do something to “fix it.” But he’s not just talking about the sculpture is he? He desperately wants to fix them but he knows he can’t, not until Na Bi lets him in. So he helps her heal through the only language they share — art.
