Oblique Dialogue (15 August 21)

Nevertheless writers have been using really effective OBLIQUE dialogue for Nabi and JE and I cannot emphasise enough how well this style fits narrative.

An oblique dialogue is a type of exchange where people DO NOT answer in a straightforward manner.

This type of dialogue, when written effectively, is more gripping and fleshes out the characters' feelings even better than direct dialogue.

In the oblique, what is UNSAID is equally as important as what has been spoken.

The Oblique dialogue is oftentimes used to create tension, to lead towards a certain direction, or to draw out conflict.

In such exchanges one will find a lot of subtext which we draw out from what was not said directly but otherwise communicated.

In an oblique exchange, you will observe that there is one character who would consistently deflect. This character is usually the one with the most secrets to protect/feelings to hide.

In this case, it is our most misunderstood homegirl Nabi.

Up to this end, Nabi is still protecting herself at fault.

JE on the other hand is trying so hard to get into her but keeps on asking the wrong questions/appearing at the wrong time which ultimately brings more confusion.
